Intelligent Hospital Bed Announced

June 8th, 2006 ·

Arteco, the leading developer of intelligent video surveillance, and Favero, the leader in furniture design for the Healthcare Industry, have introduced a joint product offering to revolutionize patient care. Arteco CEO, Silvano Grassilli and Monica Lorenzon of Favero announced the joint venture of their respective companies with the new product “Multi Sensor Bed”. This extraordinary hospital bed includes an on-board Arteco Vision System that uses a camera sensor and software to create a virtual perimeter around patients to protect them from potential injury.

The bed is designed for patients who are confined to a bed for health reasons. The intelligent analysis is able to detect if the person attempts to get up or is in danger of falling out of the bed and alert healthcare professionals in real-time. The bed uses infrared sensors to protect patients during the night and can be configured to recognize minimal movement from patients that may be in an unconscious state. Arteco has used innovative filtering that blurs the identity of the patient being monitored and helps ensure that the system is only used to protect the safety of the patient.

The use of virtual perimeters to protect bed-rest patients reduces the psychological discomfort often associated with physical barriers and limitations. The new product was introduced at the National Healthcare Industry Trade Show at Favero’s Health Project booth.
